I provide professional peer supervision for psychologists, counsellors, social workers, mental health nurses and other mental health practitioners seeking regular supervision.
After 30 years working in mental health, I enjoy sharing my learning experiences with other health professionals, whilst also listening and relating to a practitioners individual needs. Working in mental health is both rewarding and difficult and after so many years I know how invaluable having a good and supportive supervisor is. Compassion fatigue and burnout are common problems in this field. Having a good supervisor to help you navigate the difficult moments in clinical practice can make a world of difference. I have worked as a sole practitioner for the past 10 years and I am well versed in various issues associated with good clinical practice including: dealing with Medicare requirements, working with GP's and other health professionals, report writing, professional development requirements and focusing on the issues of good practitioner self care. I have also worked in a variety of other settings in the past including: NGO's, public health services, EAP's, research settings, police services and private sector organisations. This has given me a good understanding of the various cultural and organisational issues that often impact on how psychologists and other health professionals work in these various environments. I access a broad source of learning resources to ensure I am constantly updating my own knowledge base within the mental health profession. If you would like to find out more about my work as a peer supervisor, please feel free to give me a call on 3880 0384 or send me an email to sacha_gibson@yahoo.com.au. |
