About Sacha

Hi, my name is Sacha Gibson. I have been a fully registered psychologist for the past 20 years and worked in the area of mental health since 1990.

I use a client-centred approach to my work and draw on a number of different evidence based treatment modalities including: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), Narrative Therapy, EMDR, Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy, Solution Focused Strategies, Brief Therapy, Play Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Behavioural Therapy

Who I Am

I am passionate about psychology. I have focused on continuing to develop the best skills needed to make an effective treatment difference to the lives of many individuals over the past 20 years. I consider having  the opportunity to help people live more fulfilling and contented lives a great honour and  privilege . Consequently, I place a lot of importance on providing a safe, respectful and optimally healing environment in which people can best explore their issues and develop new and better ways to deal with their individual concerns.

My History

I completed a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Psychology, Anthropology and English at the Australian National University in 1989 followed by a Graduate Diploma in Applied Psychology at the University of Canberra in 1997. I spent the first 10 years of my career working and studying in the Canberra region and re-located to Queensland in 2002. 

I have worked in a variety of public and private sector organisations including ACT Health, the Australian Federal Police, Qld Health, ACT Cancer Society, various Employee Assistance Program organisations, Job Network Services, the private psychiatric hospital Hyson-Green and the Qld Centre for Mental Health Research to name a few.

​I have been in private practice for the past thirteen years providing psychological services primarily in the Redcliffe area of Brisbane. I have recently (January 2023) re-located to the Sunshine Coast working in Maleny and Landsborough. My current location details are outlined under the CONTACT tab.
