Internet Information Services
Beyond Blue Is a free service that works to raise awareness of depression, anxiety and suicide prevention, reduce the stigma surrounding these issues and to encourage people to seek support when they need it. They support people across Australia - whatever their age and wherever they live.
Black Dog Institute The Black Dog Institute is internationally recognised as a pioneer in the identification, prevention and treatment of mental illness, and the promotion of wellbeing. They place emphasis on teaching people to recognise the symptoms of poor mental health in themselves and others, as well as providing them with the right psychological tools to hold the black dog at bay.
Mindspot The MindSpot Clinic is a free telephone and online service for Australian adults troubled by symptoms of anxiety or depression. They provide free Online Screening Assessments to help you learn about your symptoms, free Treatment Courses to help you to recover, or they can help you find local services that can help.
Sane Australia Sane Australia is a national charity helping all Australians affected by mental illness lead a better life. Guided by their vision and mission, values and behaviours, they strive to help people improve their lives and reduce the risk of suicide.
Lifeline Lifeline is a national charity providing all Australians experiencing a personal crisis with access to 24 hour crisis support and suicide prevention services. They are committed to empowering Australians to be suicide-safe through connection, compassion and hope. Their vision is for an Australia free of suicide. They have also partnered with Sane Australia to provide on line peer support forums for people affected by mental illness including family friends and carers. Bravehearts The first and largest registered charity specifically and holistically dedicated to addressing the issue of child sexual assault. The Bravehearts national information and support line can be accessed by anyone wanting information or support regarding child sexual assault, including but not limited to parents, carers, adult survivors and professionals such as teachers, guidance officers, doctors and psychologists. Services provided include:- Information and support, Counselling, Advice and referral, Support for professionals working with children, Guidance around reporting disclosures, Information on normal and problematic sexual behaviour and Teaching personal safety.
Emergency Telephone Counselling Services.
If you need advice or assistance more immediately, consider these free services. Most are available 24 hours, 7 days a week. Although they provide crisis and emergency care, all will recommend consulting with a registered Psychologist to be sought.
